Achilles tendon pain years after treatment

Has anyone experienced Achilles tendon issues as an adult after clubfoot treatment? I'm 31, had Ponseti including tenotomy.
Over the last year my Achilles has been progressively more painful, especially first thing in the morning and after exercise.
Physio says tendinopathy but wondering if it's related to the tenotomy from 30 years ago?

YES. I'm 28 and having the exact same issue. Morning stiffness in the Achilles is really noticeable. My physio thinks the tendon may have regenerated with slightly different structure after the tenotomy, which could make it more prone to issues.
Eccentric calf raises have been helping me a lot. Also switched to shoes with a slight heel raise which takes pressure off the tendon.
You're not imagining the connection!

The relationship between infant tenotomy and adult Achilles tendinopathy isn't fully understood but there is emerging evidence suggesting the regenerated tendon may differ structurally from native tendon.
Management is the same as standard tendinopathy:
- Eccentric loading programme (Alfredson protocol)
- Gradual return to activity
- Appropriate footwear
- Possible shockwave therapy
I'd recommend referral to a sports medicine physician who can assess whether there are structural differences via ultrasound. Worth mentioning the tenotomy history specifically 💙

same issue here at 33. the morning hobble is real 😅
what helped me was:
1. Night splint (keeps achilles stretched while sleeping)
2. Thick gel heel cups in all my shoes
3. Swimming instead of running for cardio
4. Regular sports massage
it's manageable but annoying. definitely related to the clubfoot treatment in my opinion
