We've got a family wedding in Spain when our son will be on cast number 4. Has anyone flown with a baby in Ponseti casts? Im worried about security scanners, car seats with casts on, what if a cast gets wet at the pool, the heat...

Any advice welcome, feeling a bit overwhelmed 😬

We flew to Tenerife during casting! Tips:

1. Get a medical letter from your consultant - makes security SO much easier
2. Car seat was fine, casts fitted in our Joie 360
3. Keep baby out of the pool/sea - the cast absolutely CANNOT get wet
4. Loose cotton trousers over casts for heat
5. Take Calpol just in case

Security was fine, they just did a hand swab on the cast. Have a great time! 🎉

we flew to portugal with cast 3 and it was absolutely fine! security is usually ok if you explain its a medical cast. the HEAT was the bigger issue though. babys leg got really sweaty.

also check your travel insurance covers it!! ours didn't initially 😬

The flight itself was the easiest part - baby just slept! Airport security varies by country though. UK was fine, Spanish airport tried to make us remove the cast 🙄 A letter from your doctor in both languages would be smart.

Have fun!
