I know this sounds mad but I want to run a marathon. I'm 24, had Ponseti as a baby with one relapse at age 5. Left foot.
Can run 5k fine but longer distances my foot aches and calf gets tight. Anyone done long distance running?
Looking for training modifications, shoe recommendations, stretching routines. Want to raise money for STEPS! 🏃♂️💙

I ran the London Marathon last year with clubfoot!! 🏅 Left foot, Ponseti treated.
Key things:
- Built up SLOWLY (Hal Higdon novice plan modified)
- Sports physio specialising in foot/ankle (game changer)
- Custom orthotics for running
- Calf stretches religiously
- Different sized shoes (half size up on clubfoot)
Finished in 4:42. Not fast but I finished 😂 Do it for STEPS!! 💙🏃♂️

Haven't done a marathon but I run 10ks regularly. Tight calf is my biggest issue too.
1. Foam rolling the calf DAILY
2. Eccentric calf raises (Alfredson protocol)
3. ASICS Gel Kayano - best support I've found
4. Compression socks on clubfoot leg
Sports physio who understands clubfoot biomechanics is worth their weight in gold 🏃♂️💪

As someone who treats clubfoot, I LOVE seeing adults pushing limits. Go for it.
Recommend: biomechanical assessment from podiatrist, gradual progression (max 10% weekly mileage increase), gait analysis for compensation patterns, strength work for weaker calf/ankle.
Your 5k base is great. Marathon just needs patience. Raise that money for STEPS! 💙🏅
